Covered breaking news and produced feature stories for North American media outlets. Travelled all over the country, sometimes reporting in conflict zones.

Web: Wrote day stories and features for news website

Radio: CBC Canada, Voice of America, PRI and Free Speech Radio News. Produced and narrated stories about Colombia’s armed conflict and the war on drugs. Also covered 2010 elections, corruption scandals, lawsuits against U.S. companies and labor disputes.

TV: CurrentTV, produced short videos on child boxers, an anti-FARC Facebook activist and people using indigenous medicine in urban communities.

Hosted daily 30 minute news program.  Collaborated on selecting show topics, produced a daily interview segment under tight deadlines.  Wrote and voiced show copy, including leads and wraps.

Reviewed and edited scripts for educational radio documentaries on subjects like HIV/AIDS, local government and migration for a community radio project funded by the UNDP and USAID.

Researched how communication strategies like ad campaigns, political lobbying and agricultural extension were used in World Bank funded health, infrastructure and rural development projects.

Wrote reports on Venezuelan politics that were distributed to journalists and foreign policy analysts.
